His original form of Energy Meditation is the expression of this concept.
Spiritual influences include his being a staff member at Intersection Center for Religion and the Arts, where the arts were presented as sacramental; his ordination as a priest in 1966; and interfaith studies in 1967. Subsequently, Ravarour was charged that his spiritual ministry should be that of an independent priest to create spiritual art — which synchronistically was the same directive he received from Intersection. As a result, Ravarour went into a period of retreat, where he practiced his Energy Meditation exercises, culminating in the formulation of his Energy Flow System of the Arts in 1968.
Throughout the 1970’s, Ravarour taught Energy Meditation, Energy Flow Dance, and published poetry as ‘clues to higher consciousness.’ During this period he continued his studies of Sufi and Eastern spiritual practices. In 1979, Ravarour entered the Union Institute’s doctoral program under Dr. José Argüelles - Valum Votan, where he studied Buddhism, Taoism, Ch’i and the application of biopsychic energy to his Energy Meditation and spiritual arts. The doctoral studies added philosophical dimensions and ideological underpinnings, deepening and explicating his work. After conferral of his Ph.D. on October 12, 1985, Dr. Ravarour taught his Energy Meditation to New Age audiences.
During the following decades, Ravarour applied his Energy Flow System of the Arts to create Art Photography, and flowing video camerawork that gained him national recognition. His independent readings focused upon The Gospel of Thomas, The Nag Hammadi, the Aramaic Jesus, the findings of The Jesus Seminars, and Matthew Fox’s Creation Spirituality. In 1996, he attended Fox’s seminars and Cosmic Masses, and eventually received the official training through the Friends of Creation Spirituality to officiate and celebrate the Cosmic Mass. Ravarour was incardinated into a branch of the Thomasines as a priest; and later went on to lead its episcopate. Resultant to his interfaith studies, he also holds Buddhist papers, and is a member of Interfaith Clergy.
Currently, Ravarour is a priest at the American Catholic Church in Los Angeles; and leads meditation services. Artistically, Ravarour has collaborated with New Age composer Christopher A. Flores, creating numerous musical and visual works centered on spiritual themes. Ravarour re-released his 1960’s teachings as a book entitled Keys to Spiritual Being: Energy Meditation and Synchronization Exercises, an exercise program designed to help spiritualize the individual and deepen connections between mates. As a priest and spiritual artist, Ravarour has focused upon the creation of spiritual art, teaching Energy Meditation to magnify spiritual energy, interfaith studies, New Spirituality and liturgies.
