Why: Responding to the desire for a public event in Southern California to remember The Stonewall Riots - a pivotal moment in LGBT and World history - on the actual anniversary date (June 28th,,) The Eucharistic Catholic Church (the first public outreach to the LGBT community, established in 1946) and its mother church, The American Catholic Church (incorporated in 1915,) will offer a threefold public celebration called STONEWALL IS FOR ALL on June 28th, 2009 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM. The event will include :- at 2:00 PM.A Retrospective Exhibit A presentation of artifacts, news items and film excerpts that specifically relate to the GLBT religious movement and its effect of church and society - some never exhibited in public before and dating back to the year 1946 plus medieval to modern sacred and secular art in the ACC and ECC collections.- at 3:00 PM. A Celtic Service An all-embracing and open communion service in the tradition of the ACC. The choral mass will include original music composed for the day. Archbishop Robert Clement will officiate. He began his ministry in 1948 with particular outreach to the LGBT community in NYC starting in 1968. He and his lifelong partner, the late John Darcy Noble, resided a few blocks from Stonewall during the riots and saw that time as an opportunity to expand the message of unconditional love to all people through the Church of the Beloved Disciple, which they founded. Clement currently continues this work in Los Angeles.- at 4:00 PM. Tea and Tea Dance Refreshments will be offered while The Vegan Vixens Band will play in the plaza courtyard. There will be opportunities to learn about many organizations that follow the Celtic principals of stewardship for a greener planet and respect for all living things, particularly through the St. Martin Animal Foundation. Guided tours of the One Institute’s collections will be offered throughout the day. The ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives houses the world's largest research library on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual,and Transgendered heritage and concerns.
